Champagne Put On Ice

HOSPITALITY and Catering apprentice Chris Grabham found himself in a very unusual position after passing his National Licensee Certificate as part his apprenticeship - he was old enough to pull pints, but not old enough to drink them!
The 17-year-old from Benton in Newcastle progressed so quickly through his training that he was on the verge of being able to manage his own licensed pub, despite not being legally allowed to drink in one!
Needless to say the champagne had to be put on ice until Chris reached 18, but he has already set his sights on managing a lively nightspot in Newcastle's bustling Bigg Market. He said:“I used to help out in my best mate's mums pub collecting a few glasses, but I enrolled on this course to be able to help out behind the bar. I would love to run a place in the middle of town, somewhere that is full of life with 20 staff!”
